Privacy policy

Short version: DashBox records video, GPS, and speed to make the app work, keeps all of it on your device, and sends nothing to us or anyone else. Details below.

What DashBox records

DashBox records video through your device's camera. That is the app's core function, recording the road while you drive.

While recording is active, DashBox also records your GPS location and speed. This is what gives each drive a route and a timeline, rather than only a video file.

Microphone audio is off by default. It is only recorded if you explicitly turn it on in settings, and only while it is turned on.

Where your data goes

As of this policy, all recorded video, location, speed, and app settings are stored locally on your device. None of it is transmitted to any server we operate, and none of it is transmitted to any third party.

DashBox does not use any analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising software. We have no visibility into how you use the app or what it records, because nothing leaves your device.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties, because we do not receive it in the first place.

Deleting your data

Since everything DashBox records stays on your device, you control deletion directly: delete a trip in the app to remove its footage and telemetry, or uninstall the app to remove all of it at once. There is no separate deletion request process, because we do not hold a copy of your data to delete.

If this changes

If a future version of DashBox adds a feature that sends data off your device (for example, an optional cloud backup), this page will be updated before that feature ships, with a new "last updated" date reflecting the change.
