Every drive leaves a record.

A dashcam records. DashBox preserves and explains. It keeps a continuous, segmented log of the road, tags it with route and speed, and holds onto it until you decide it can go. If something happens, you are not searching for a clip, you already have a case.

What's actually built

Every line below is shipped and working today. Nothing in this section is a promise about tomorrow.

01

Continuous segmented recording

Arm it once and it records fixed-length clips for the whole drive, looping so you never manage files or run out of space. Unprotected clips prune automatically at your storage ceiling.

02

Configurable quality

Resolution, frame rate, and bitrate, chosen from what your device actually supports rather than a guess.

03

Route and speed per drive

GPS position and speed recorded alongside video, so every trip carries a timeline, not just a file.

04

Muted audio by default

Microphone capture is off until you opt in. Recording audio is regulated in some places, so the choice stays explicit and yours.

05

Manual start, automatic stop

You arm it on purpose, so a record button you pressed is one you can trust. It closes the trip after sustained no motion, so a forgotten session does not fill your storage.

06

Recording state you can read at a glance

A steady indicator and a running clock, readable in sunlight, at arm's length, and in peripheral vision. No blinking icon that can be caught mid off, and no ambiguity about whether it is capturing.

07

Jolt detection and clip retention

An accelerometer watches for a hard jolt and holds the clips around it, so a near miss the driver did not manually save is not lost. Held clips expire unless confirmed, so a rough road can never lock up your storage forever.

08

Full trip timeline

Route trace, speed, jolts, and every capture gap laid out together for a single drive, with a review action for anything the sensors held onto.

Coverage report

Android and iOS are not the same case

Where a platform cannot do something, DashBox states it rather than pretending it is running.

Android

Continuous

Signal holds through a background service.

  • Can keep recording once the app leaves the foreground
  • A call or app switch does not necessarily end the drive

iOS

Foreground only

Signal drops the moment the app is backgrounded.

  • Recording needs the app open and the screen awake
  • This is a platform limit, disclosed here rather than hidden

CASE-01 In review

Tamper-evident storage

Every clip is already hashed and chained on your device. What's missing is a screen that shows you it happened.

CASE-02 Pending

Evidence export

A clip, its telemetry, a map render, and timestamps bundled into one package that is easy to hand to an insurer.

CASE-03 Pending

Trip replay

Video, route, and telemetry scrubbed together in sync, rather than checked one at a time.

CASE-04 Pending

Driving score

Harsh braking, cornering, and speed patterns, read from data the app already collects.

CASE-05 Pending

Cloud escrow

An optional, wifi-only backup for locked incidents, so a lost phone does not mean lost evidence.

CASE-06 Pending

Auto SOS

Notifying chosen contacts after a severe impact, where the platform allows it.
